SJVPA General Meeting: Mindfulness for Mental Health Providers

About the Event: This training will provide Mindfulness best practices related to the specific needs of mental health providers such as: fundamental understanding of mindfulness, personal and therapeutic use of mindfulness, mindfulness therapeutic activities/tools, practice and practical implementation of mindfulness. 

 

Educational Objectives:   By the completion of this course, participants will be able to

1-Describe the operational definition of Mindfulness

2-Demonstrate mindfulness as a tool to increase the ability to focus attention on the bodies sensations

3-Describe the intrinsic and systematic benefits of mindfulness in a therapeutic setting

4- Describe how Mindfulness is applied in psychological/clinical treatments

5- Optional: Utilize the book, "Alicia's Mindfulness," as a practical mindfulness tool.  

 

 

About the Presenter:  Raul Salazar completed his Master of Arts Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of San Francisco after completing a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology at California State University, Fresno.  Currently a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern, Mr. Salazar has completed his BBS hours and is preparing for licensure.  He obtained Certification in Mindfulness Facilitation through UCLA Semel Institute, Mindfulness Awareness Research Center in 2014 and has provided in-depth mindfulness trainings and consultations for business executives and mental health practitioners since 2013. He is the author of Alicia’s Mindfulness, a therapeutic mindfulness book for children, teens, and adults.  Mr. Salazar has been a Vipassana Meditation practitioner as taught by S.N. Goenka in the tradition of Sayagy U Ba Khin since 1998.

 

 

 

Continuing Education: 6 hours credit provided by the Sullivan Center for Children, an authorized provider of continuing education credit through the American Psychological Association (APA).  CE credit is approved for Psychologists, MFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and LEPs

The Sullivan Center for Children is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists.  The Sullivan Center for Children maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
