Competent Practice in the
Treatment of Eating Disorders

Eating Disorders can be one of the more complex psychological disorders to treat due to the severe medical co-morbidities. This presentation is designed to support providers in the community in their understanding of the demographics of the population, mortality rates of those with Eating Disorders, developing a risk profile, diagnostic criteria, evaluation, and treatment options. The goal is for attendees to be able to identify individuals who are struggling with an eating disorder, and assist them in finding the most appropriate treatment available.
Stacy Ippolito is a California Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. She is the Clinical Director of Oasis Eating Disorder Recovery, which operates intensive outpatient and day treatment programs in Fresno for those who struggle with significant symptoms of an eating disorder. Stacy is a Central Valley native. She received her M.A. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. Prior to joining Oasis, she dedicated herself to working in the Eating Disorders Outpatient Program at Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital as a Program Therapist. Additionally, she supported the Practicum Student Training Program as a supervisor of MFT Trainees and Social Work Interns. Stacy has always been passionate about helping those who suffer from mental illness. She is excited to be able to offer treatment for eating disorders in the community.
This continuing education course is designed for post-graduate, post-licensure, level training in the area of eating disorder assessment and the treatment of patients presenting with symptoms of an eating disorder. It is targeted toward psychologists and mental health professionals who are actively licensed practitioners.

Program Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, attendees will:
1. Participants will be able to describe the unique characteristics and demographics of the eating disorder population, including health risks & mortality rates.
2. Participants will be able to describe the process of formulating a risk profile that includes the unique characteristics of eating disorder pathologies.
3. Participants will identify barriers to treatment, and analyze the process of preparing a clinical evaluation and treatment plan.
