Cultural Responsiveness

Central Valley Behavioral Health and the San Joaquin Valley Psychological Association are pleased to invite you to a CE presentation on Cultural Responsiveness.  This engaging event will focus on how to improve a clinician's skills to work with patients around areas of cultural diversity.  This event also satisfies the Board of Psychology requirement to engage in cultural competency training for licensure renewal.


Objectives:

Participants will, at the conclusion of this training,

1. Define cultural competence (racial, ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic status, sexuality identities), cultural responsiveness, unconscious bias, and the role of rituals in therapeutic relationships.

2. Examine the function of bio-psycho-social theory and cultural identity development.

3. Increase self-awareness by learning to identify cultural identity and how it affects client treatment.

4. Identify strategies to reduce bias and how to create inclusive therapeutic spaces through cultural competency.

This event is being co-sponsored by Sierra Meadows Behavioral Health who is providing the venue location at their facility in central Fresno on Fir (one block north of Herndon), between Cedar and Maple.  The facility is located at 1781 E.
