Epigenetics & Marianismo: Using ancestral knowing to heal legacy wounds

Central Valley Behavioral Health and the San Joaquin Valley Psychological Association are pleased to invite you to a CE presentation on Epigenetics and Marianismo.  This course considers the intergenerational and traumatic impacts of the experiences of mothers and how that impacts their connection with their children.  This event also satisfies the Board of Psychology requirement to engage in cultural competency training for licensure renewal.


Objectives:

Participants will, at the conclusion of this training,

1. Participants will explain 3 ways Marianismo has impacted intergenerational healing.

2. Participants will describe epigenetic evolution and demonstrate how to integrate that idea with a family history.

3. Participants will identify 2 ways in which inherited Machismo and Marianismo impacts the mental and physical health of Latina mothers.

4. Participants will describe “legacy burdens” and “ancestral healing” as tools for client wellness.

Make sure to join us for a networking breakfast beginning at 8:00am.  Breakfast, snacks, coffee, and beverages will be provided by Central Valley Behavioral Health and will be available throughout the presentation and during breaks.
